Croatia’s property market has moved on from the post-war days when intrepid buyers were able to purchase a run-down farmhouse on the sea for €20,000.

Prices have risen in recent years as the attention of Western Europe’s holiday goers has turned once again to Dalmatia’s unique coastline. Buyers on Brac can expect to pay around €250,000 for a three-bedroomed house with sea view, still well below equivalent prices for properties in other Mediterranean destinations.

This price differential will become less pronounced over the next two to three years as Croatia reforms its governmental structure and economy to align itself with the requirements of EU membership.

Motor highway Split-Zagreb bringing Dalmatia to within five hours drive of Vienna.
De-regulation of the airline industry opening Croatian skies to foreign competition especially low-cost carriers.
Western-european style mortgages will raise the prices individuals are able to pay for their properties.
Streamlining of land registration and the purchase process will simplify procedures for those wishing to buy.

Croatia is set to re-establish its pre-war position as the number one tourist destination in Europe as its neighbors rediscover the unique opportunities on their doorstep.
