There are four land types as laid down in the zoning plans of each region. These plans were reviewed recently and will be subject to reappraisal in five years.

Many new areas were designated as tourist commercial land under the recent review of the zoning plans. These areas are away from residential areas in coastal locations. Development restrictions for these areas vary depending on the area.

Building conditions

Construction from coastline – minimum 30 metres for tourist facilities; swimming pools, restaurants etc.
Minimum 100 metres for accommodation units
Floor plan area of construction – up to 25% of ground area
Number of floors – 2 + attic
