| At the centre of
Sutivan stands the 18th century villa of Jerolim Kavanjin
and its baroque garden. Together with the parish church this
forms the focal point of the town which has become prominent
over the years due to its proximity to Split. Its location
enabled it to develop as a trading post for the island and
today it is still popular with those on the mainland as a
location for ‘vikendice’ (weekend houses). Its
charm draws people from all over Europe to spend the summers
here.
The town has many cafes and restaurants along the harbour
front and there is a wide range of activities from tennis,
football and sailing to extreme sports to enjoy. At night
the town is very lively with a selection of late night restaurants
and dancing on offer. For a quiet evening, however, you need
only take a short walk around the bay and you will find yourself
under the pine trees with the stars to yourself.
