| Selca is the capital
of Eastern Brac and the oldest settlement in the area. It
was built on the hillside above the sea to escape the pirate
invasions from Omis. From this elevated position it commands
panoramic views of the mainland in the North to the islands
of Hvar in the South and Korcula beyond.
The town is centred around the parish church which stands
high above the square providing a focal point for its people.
In keeping with its status as the local capital Selca is a
lively place with lots of cafes, restaurants and a full range
of services. Whiling away the afternoon over a coffee will
give you an opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of this
beautiful place and enjoy the views to the sea.
You will also be able to see where the island’s first
golf course is planned in the valley below. A factor which
is destined to play a major part in the future of the area.
There is a regular link with the mainland at Makarska via
the ferry in Sumartin 3 km away.
