POSTIRA

> back to island map

Postira, the birthplace of Vladimir Nazor, one of Croatia’s most famous writers, is a little fishermen’s village 9 kilometres to the East of Supetar. The preference of Omis’ pirates for the neighbouring towns of Splitska and Supetar left the village to grow up in relative peace around the Vrilo spring at the bottom of the bay. From there the Brac nobles began the construction of their imposing stone houses and the village spread up along the sides of the hill.

Today it is a very popular holiday destination with plenty of restaurants, bars and a late-night disco. For those looking to stay in shape there is a good range of sporting activities including football, tennis, basketball and many watersports. During the day we recommend a trip to the nearby beach of Lovrecina where you can relax by the sea or learn to play the traditional Dalmatian games of Boccia and Picigin.
