Welcome to Brac, Croatia's most intriguing holiday destination
Description
Brac is the largest island on the Dalmatian coast. Populated by
traditional Arcadian fishing villages, the island boasts a dramatic
landscape of pines, maquis and sheer cliffs with hot, sunny summers
and over 2700 sunshine hours per year. The main industries on the
island are fishing, olive farming, viniculture and tourism. Additionally,
the island is famous for its pure, white stone that is still quarried
inland and from which the White House in Washington was built.
Accessibility
Brac is the most accessible of Dalmatia's islands. There are up
to 13 ferries a day during the summer making the forty minute crossing
to and from Split. There is also an international airport in the
centre of the island which receives up to 35,000 passengers a year
on 750 flights both scheduled and chartered.
Regions
North: Supetar is the capital of Brac and the liveliest
of its towns year-round due to its proximity to Split.
On either side of Supetar are the villages of Splitska, Sutivan
and Postira where you will find numerous pine tree lined coves and
charming cafes in which to relax and enjoy your holiday.
